Cereal Lab
I. Group Data Analysis (10 min)
1. What patterns do you notice? (List as many observations as you can!) More females chose bowl A than males did while more males chose the bigger bowls. The males had a larger average of grams of cereal than the females. But everyone said they filled the bowls full. It seems as if more males have two servings of cereal.
2. What assumptions can you draw from looking at this data? Discuss Each category
-
Bowl Fill
-
Average Grams
-
Bowl Choice
I assume that people sometimes feel obligated to fill their bowl all the way. The males had a higher average of grams because they chose the bigger bowls and they subconsciously filled the bowls all the way up. From the data you can see that almost everyone regardless of bowl size filled the entire bowl. Obviously when you fill a bigger bowl it will be more grams. People are having these big bowls and are filling them up.
II. Personal Conclusions
-
How and what can you share to others about the cereal lab? Next Steps? I can share what a serving size looks like compared to what people normally eat with others.
-
How can you apply this to your own habits? I can obey serving sizes when I eat food.
-
How many grams did you pour into your PERSONAL BOWL? 26 grams
-
How many servings of cereal is this? (Go here to see the food label / nutrition information for the cereal) It was less than the serving size.

III. Application to Current Project
-
How can you apply the information you learned to this project? I can apply how much other people serve themselves and how it correlates with being overweight and diseases.
-
Does this address any need to knows? How can people obey serving sizes? How EXACTLY does serving size correlate with obesity and diseases.
-
What new information can you bring to your group? How overeating can cause obesity and why people do serve themselves a lot of food even if they know it’s unhealthy.

Morbidity and Mortality Infographic
In this project we had to create something to teach people about the dangers of unhealthy foods primarily sugary foods.
We learned about what makes sugar addictive, how much Americans are consuming, and how the industry sells sugary foods to people.
